Recent research has led me to a far greater level of respect and appreciation for what the closeted members of our armed forces go through, and what they sacrifice in order to serve and protect our country. We’ve come such a long way, but even after the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” there’s still a long way to go.
“The Military Acceptance Project (MAP) is a non-profit organization that promotes understanding, acceptance and equality for all service members, veterans and their families.” It exists to help women, people of color, survivors of trauma, and since the repeal of DADT, lesbian, gay, and bisexual service members as well.
